Given the increasing costs of drug development, there is a high demand for CROs. Many pharmaceutical industry leaders have lost revenue due to patent expirations and aggressive generic drug launches, spurring manufacturers to outsource aspects of the drug manufacturing process to CROs to reduce costs.

As per our namesake, we at Scout Scientific LLC are able to scout ahead and explore method development and testing opportunities. We also want to discover unique compounds and bring them to market. We believe that our niche in this industry is our ability to remain flexible for the creative ideas of the individual inventor to the demands of a larger company. We want to collaborate with small and large facilities, to be sought out for unique testing and investigations, performing work they cannot schedule into busy and ridged timelines.

The TEC is owned by Pitt County Economic Development and contains several companies. This location hosts both Scout Scientific LLC’s office and its laboratory spaces.

Our Leadership
Scout Scientific LLC is owned by Shawn R. Wyatt, a skilled scientist with 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. During his career he has been involved in the development and validation of methods for several analytical techniques in the pharmaceutical industry, mainly High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
Mr. Wyatt has performed analytical method transfers, routine sample testing, stability sample setup and testing, reference standard re-qualification, and commercial release testing (drug substance and drug product). He is also considered an expert in work related to High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) by his peers in previous positions.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Alfred University and afterward received his Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Virginia.
